Appointment of Aaron Christian Peterson to U.S. District Court, for the District of Alaska

 

Anchorage, Alaska – Chief Judge Sharon L. Gleason is pleased to announce that Aaron Christian Peterson has been appointed to serve as United States District Judge for the District of Alaska.

Aaron Christian Peterson has been appointed to fill the seat vacated by Timothy Mark Burgess, who took senior status on December 31, 2021. Mr. Peterson began his legal career as a law clerk for Alaska Superior Court Judge Michael R. Spann in 2010. He has served as a litigator at the Alaska Department of Law since 2012, first as a prosecutor with the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office from 2012 to 2015, and then with the Office of Special Prosecutions from 2015 to 2019, where he handled statewide wildlife crime prosecutions. Since 2019, he has served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division.

Mr. Peterson was born and raised in Alaska. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2007 and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2010. Mr. Peterson will assume the position of United States District Judge with chambers in Anchorage, Alaska.
