U.S. District Court of Alaska Reappoints Magistrate Judge Scott Oravec

Anchorage, Alaska –The U.S. District Court, District of Alaska, is pleased to announce the reappointment of Scott A. Oravec to serve as a part-time United States Magistrate Judge with duty station at Fairbanks, Alaska. The effective date of this fourth such reappointment is February 20, 2025. Judge Oravec has held this position since February 20, 2009.

Judge Oravec earned his B.S. from James Madison University and his J.D. from St. Louis University, School of Law. Judge Oravec continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

Judge Oravec is to hold and discharge the duties of part-time U.S. Magistrate Judge for a term of four (4) years from date of his reappointment, subject to the provisions of 28 U.S.C. Section 631, unless sooner removed.
