The POWER Act requires the Chief Judge of each Judicial District to hold at least one annual event “in partnership with a State, local, tribal or territorial domestic violence service provider or coalition and a State or local volunteer lawyer project, promoting pro bono legal services as a critical way in which to empower survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking and engage citizens in assisting those survivors.”

The webinar will feature three experts to discuss topics related to domestic violence, historic trauma, and issues of access to justice:

  • Meredith Drent, Chief Justice, Osage Nation Supreme Court and Chief Judge, Tulalip Tribal Court
  • Bree R. Black Horse, Assistant U. S. Attorney, Eastern District of Washington
  • Keely Linton, Executive Director at Strong Hearted Native Women’s Coalition, Inc.

The ANDVSA Presentation will feature two speakers to discuss topics related to domestic violence in Alaska and opportunities for pro bono work.
